The Deus Lion’s mantra, “Deus Ex Änima,” hearkens to the literary convention, “Deus Ex Machina,” wherein a story’s conflicts are surprisingly/emphatically resolved by an unlikely source. As for “Änima,” the new term is an upgrade/replacement to “animal,” which has become the most racist word in the English dictionary. (It’s definition contains over a dozen pejoratives, including “inferior,” “irrational,” “savage,” “cruel,” “worthless,” and “gross.”) Put this explication together and “Deus Ex Änima” roughly translates to, “From Animals, Enlightenment.”
